the start of our journey

I thought it only fitting for my first post that I took you back to the first night of the rest of our lives - the night Mr A proposed in the beautiful town of Ubud, Bali.

Our day started just like any other lazy morning on vacation - a quick trip to the rooftop pool, a delicious breakfast of banana pancakes and a relaxed hour of reading in our room.

We had organised a tour of Ubud so set off just before lunch to explore a few Balinese temples, markets and rice fields. In the afternoon we had a couples massage and took a quick stroll through the town centre. Mr A had booked somewhere for dinner, so when it got to night time our driver picked us up and dropped us off at a beautiful restaurant.

Unbeknownst to me, Mr A had booked a private dining experience for us, perched on top of an infinity pool overlooking the mountains. We started our meal with a seafood cerviche, followed by entrées of smoked salmon, tomato soup and scallops and mains of seared lamb, braised beef and gourmet vegetables! Just after we had started our main, Mr A got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He couldn't have picked a more romantic, stunning place to propose and I honestly couldn't be happier.

Most friends and family asked me whether I figured out straight away that he was going to propose. My answer is no - it was a magical surprise! The moment was perfect and made me forget all of the little things I would have usually worried about - it didn't matter that I was wearing a casual maxi at a posh restaurant, it didn't matter that my hair was a frizzy mess from the rain and it didn't matter that we were both exhausted from a long day. A lesson for me to learn not to sweat the small stuff!
Also wanted to give a quick shout out to the lovely hotel we stayed at during our holiday in Bali. If you are ever in need of an affordable, luxurious hotel please check out U Paasha Hotel. They excelled my expectations with wonderful service, polite and happy staff, clean and spacious rooms and a delicious breakfast buffet. The hotel is located smack bang in the middle of Seminyak on Eat Street - perfect for couples looking for a short, relaxing break!
Hope you enjoyed my story and the photos from our day.
How did your fiancé propose? I'd love to hear!
