With Christmas fast approaching and a diary packed full of dinners, parties and wedding-related appointments, I am starting to get sick, stressed and overtired.

I'm sure many of you are feeling the same way so today I just wanted to share a few of my tips and tricks that will leave you feeling rested and refreshed (even if you have only had a few hours sleep the night before)!

A tidy house equals a tidy mind ... for me this is so important. I can't think clearly when my house is untidy and I definitely can't relax. I know I've mentioned this before, but cleaning is very therapeutic and the results when you are finished are even better. Before you leave the house for the day, or after you get home from an event spend just five minutes putting away loose papers, wiping down your kitchen benchtops and making your bed. You will be able to relax so much easier and you can get a good night's sleep knowing that when you wake your house will be nice and tidy!

Decorating ... I'm not sure if this is just me, but decorating and rearranging furniture has always been a hobby of mine and I find it oddly relaxing. I started decorating for Christmas back in the first week of November and I love adding bits and pieces of holiday decor to my home. I think moving a piece of furniture or adding some homely touches can really lift a space, which in turn lifts your mood and can help you relax! As you will see in the photo above, I went for a gold, white, copper and aqua Christmas theme this year. My house is usually decorated with a coral-pink colour so I am loving the change in colour to a more cool-tone.

Bathtime .. I'm not going to bang on about this because I have so many times before. All I will say is take a bath, your body and mind will thank you for it!

Trashy TV ... is there anything better than coming home and collapsing on the couch with a cup of tea and a few episodes of trashy TV? Even better if you can do this in the comfort of your own bed! A few episodes of a good drama/reality show can really help you unwind and 

Beautifying - do yourself a favour and book in for a massage, facial, tan, blowdry or mani/pedi. I find sitting in the beautician's chair so relaxing and there is nothing like a good facial and massage to soothe the soul. Hiring a professional to do your makeup, hair or tan during the silly season can take so much pressure away from you and leave you free during the day to relax with a good book or get some of the tasks on your to-do list done!

Notice a theme above? Everything apart from the last task should be done at your very own home, sweet home. Home truly is where the heart is and I think it is the best place to relax and rejuvenate.
