blogmas day thirteen ... christmas menu inspiration

I love embracing all of the fun things that come with a hot Aussie Christmas, including morning swims in the pool, an afternoon nanna nap and indulging in delicious fresh seafood and glazed ham throughout the day.

When it comes to picking our Christmas lunch/dinner menu, I like to incorporate a few of the tried and tested dishes including turkey, Christmas pudding and warm brandy custard with some of the more non-traditional Aussie favourites like garlic prawns and corn on the barbecue, yummy fresh salads and fruit laden pavlova.

A few of the recipes I have bookmarked for Christmas include:

Curtis Stone's glazed Christmas ham - Christmas isn't Christmas without a glazed ham

Donna Hay's berry and yoghurt pavlova - these gorgeous individual mini pavs are perfect for family gatherings

Bonus points go to Jamie Oliver's lobster mac and cheese, which would be absolutely delicious paired with some fresh prawns and a big green salad

Curtis Stone's barbecued corn with fetta - fresh, tasty and healthy! A perfect addition to please any vegetarians attending your feast

Gourmet Traveller's simple tomato salad -  an easy and delicious salad with a festive twist

Better Homes and Gardens traditional Christmas pudding - nothing beats pudding with custard, my go to Christmas dinner dessert

What are your favourite Christmas meals? Are you traditional or do you do things differently when it comes to creating a festive menu?

  1. I usually make a seafood starter - last year it was lobster and prawn cocktails and this year it was gin and tonic oysters!
