bump update ... 21 weeks

I have officially passed the half way mark and things are starting to feel a little crazy, and oh so real.

How far along? 21 weeks.

Size of baby: As long as a carrot and as big and sweet as a mango.

Maternity clothes? Loving them. I have a wedding and several functions to attend over the next few months so have stocked up on stretchy dresses that will see me through the silly season. I still need to head to H&M to buy a few more basics and Summer staples, and I also have to make it a priority to sort through my closet and pack away all of the clothes that no longer fit me. My to do list is never ending!

Sleep: I am finding it more difficult to fall asleep at night, yet I am waking up earlier and earlier in the morning. I think it must be my body's way of preparing me for after the baby arrives as I am starting to get better at learning how to cope with little energy. High-fives to all the other mama's out there running on no fuel ... you are all amazing.

Best moment this week: The best moment from the last few week's was definitely seeing our gorgeous bebe at the anatomy scan. The scan's these days are so amazing and high-tech. I could see exactly where the babies blood was flowing, it's heartbeat, spine developing and a look at its cute face in 3D. So very special.

Miss anything? My energy. Also missing salami and brie cheese (I was never a massive fan of either of these pre-pregnancy, but I think it's normal to crave things you never would have liked before, and especially things that you can't eat)!

Movement: Yes, yes, yes! The best feeling in the world. As baby is getting bigger it's kicks are getting more and more noticeable.

Food cravings: Cheeseburgers and red liquorice (not together thank god)!

Anything making you queasy or sick:  I think I have kicked the meat-phobia to the curb. Given I've been so low on energy I've been trying to consume more meat so I'm lucky it still isn't making me nauseous.

Gender: All will be revealed in 19 weeks ... not that I'm counting or anything ;)!

Labor signs: Not yet, although I know a lot of ladies start feeling Braxton Hicks contractions around now so I have been keeping my eye out.

Symptoms: Tired ALL the time. Sore hips and back - especially after a long day at work or a busy weekend. My fingers, ankles and feet are starting to swell and my wedding rings give me an awful red rash every time I try to wear them.

Belly button in or out? In but rapidly stretching out!

Wedding rings on or off? Off.

Happy or moody most of the time: A happy mix of both haha although my husband might tell you a different story. I'm generally feeling so happy and grateful most of the time, although sometimes the various pregnancy side effects get me down and I just feel like having a bath or taking a quick nap. Donuts also seem to brighten my mood!

Looking forward to: Maternity leave! Don't get me wrong, I actually really do enjoy my job but being pregnant, constantly tired and working full time has its disadvantages. I am always exhausted and seem to just make it through each week. The weekends are a combination of trying to catch up on sleep, trying to get the house in order (clean, wash, iron, grocery shopping etc) and wanting to catch up with friends/family. It's hard to find balance when I am always exhausted and I find myself wishing for a few more days off during the week so I can stay on top of the house duties and have a bit of 'me' time.

Nursery: I have purchased all of the little decorations and now just need to make some big decisions on the cot, change table/drawers and storage. I have been procrastinating picking any of these big items as they are so expensive and I don't want to make the wrong choice. I think I need to trust my instincts more as time is ticking away.

Workouts: I have started back up with pilates sessions and I am loving it. It feels so good to stretch everything out and work out and really helps with my energy levels.

xx G
